Honorable Ice Cream

Is it just me, or do you find this sign humorous?

On Cape Cod we saw this one:

Late Spring Flower Report

Our ugly cactus is in bloom. It flowers two or three times a year.

Also azalea, iris, lady slippers and even lemon lillies; and that's a rose in bloom behind the iris!

And Finally...

Did your mother ever tell you never to eat anything bigger than your head? This whoopie pie (a local delicacy) is supposed to be dessert for one person. We can only manage 1/4 each. Traditionally made with chocolate cookie/cake, some enterprising cooks started making other flavors, like pumpkin.
The following is from

History of Whoopie Pies
New England Whoopie Pies - Amish Whoopie Pies

Whoopie pies are considered a New England phenomenon and a Pennsylvania Amish tradition. They're one of Maine's best known and most loved comfort foods. Mainers will even claim that they were weaned on whoopie pies. In Maine, these treats are more like a cake than a pie or a cookie, as they are very generously sized (about hamburger size). they're so huge that you'll want to share one with a friend. A big glass of milk is almost mandatory when eating a whoopie pie.

Want to make some? Here is a link to several receipt variations. I make no claim as to the authenticity or taste of any of them.

Till next time - stay well and get outside!
